I'm beginning to think that Lamont Library earplugs are becoming a must-have accessory, like an iPod or cellphone. In the hour since I arrived, nearly every person who came in the lobby stopped to pick up a pair. A couple of people came in, got their earplugs, and left!

I have also noticed a stronger interest in getting earplugs from from the Reference Desk this fall. My sense is that quiet study space is not easy to find around campus. Should we be keeping some kind of statistics on earplugs too?
I had a patron (not an undergrad) call specifically to ask if we had these. I knew who she was only after she came in grabbed a fistful, and promptly left.
